Tabaco City, [05.21.18] – Beware: Drunk driving kills.

Another tragic vehicular accident has transpired this afternoon along the national highway in Purok 1, Barangay San Antonio, Tabaco City between a speeding van and a tricycle leaving scores of wounded and a lone casualty – ostensibly of intoxication.

The accident transpired in the vicinity of Purok 1, Barangay San Antonio, Tabaco at 4:00 o’ clock in the afternoon, police report said.

Police identified the following victims [tricycle passengers] namely:  Jomar Rosales y Tobias 10 years old, Adrian Rosales y Vesto, 9 years old, Jay-ar Rosales y Buising, 11 years old, Jaime Rosales y Buising, 69 years old of Bariw, Malinao, Albay and Carmelo Rosales of Barangay San Agustin, Oas, Albay.

Carmelo Rosales died at the Ziga District Memorial Hospital due to fatal body injuries, while the tricycle driver Jaime Rosales was transferred to the Bicol Regional Training and Teaching Hospital in Legazpi City.

The van driver was identified as John Joseph Urbano Sta Maria, of 0297 Nemaville Subdivision, San Juan, San Miguel Bulacan.

The van was heading to Ligao City has rammed the tricycle who was travelling towards Tabaco City. The tricycle has encroached the lane of the upcoming van is being eyed as the cause of the accident.

The tricycle driver was apparently under the influence of liquor, a physician of Ziga Memorial Hospital was quoted while attending to the wounded victims.
