A platoon of RSTOG Masbate troopers were wounded in a roadside blast on their way back to Camp Bonny Serrano.

Legazpi City, [05.04.18] – A roadside blast has inflicted  injuries to two members of 1st Platoon, Regional Mobile Force Battallion – 5 (RSOTG “Masbate”) in Baleno Masbate this morning, a report reaching Camp Simeon A. Ola said.

The wounded personnel were identified as PO1 Josue A. Escalante and PO1 Nixon Jones B. Cid, both members of 1st Platoon, Regional Mobile Force Battallion – 5 (RSOTG “Masbate”).

The victims suffered different injuries in their bodies due to shrapnels and were safely transported to Masbate Provincial Hospital for medical treatment.

The police patrol car [Toyota Hi-Lux] has incurred damages from the right portion including glass window due to the impact of the blast, but the driver was able to drive the vehicle back to Camp Bonny Serrano in Masbate City.

The blast happened at 9:52 o’ clock in the morning along the road of Barangay Canjunday, Baleno, Masbate, while the troops are on the way back to the Masbate Police Provincial Office after serving a search warrant at Barangay Tinapian, Baleno.

The unidentified perpetrators used an improvised explosive device are still at-large and a hot-pursuit operation is underway to track the enemies.

The blast is the first incident of explosion recorded in the municipality of Baleno since the start of local election campaign.
