drowningSorsogon City, [04.16.18] – A 23 years old male has died of drowning on Sunday afternoon in the sea waters of San Juan, Bacon District, Sorsogon City in an attempt to save the lives of his two drowning nephews police report said.

Police Community Precinct 4 personnel proceed to the place and conducted investigation. Investigation revealed that around 1:00 o’clock of Sunday afternoon the victim Raymundo Dechavez Bensulan, 23 years old, single, jobless and resident of Barangay San Juan Bacon District, Sorsogon City together with his two minor nephews; Christian Demonteverde and Joshua Alamer went swimming at the resort.

The minors accidentally ventured into the deep portion of the sea and shouted for help, the victim swam and tried to save his drowning nephews, but he was engulfed by big waves while rescuing the minors that resulted to his tragic death.

Rescuers Renin Ducay and Sorsogon CDRRMO recovered the lifeless victim’s body at around 3:00 o’clock in the afternoon of April 15 2018.

The Bacon District was the second drowning incident recorded in Sorsogon on April 15 following the Gubat incident. The mishaps were both caused by sudden surge of big waves while the victims were swimming.
