Legazpi City, [12.11.17] – At least five persons were arrested this afternoon by joint elements of Virac Municipal Police Station, Catanduanes PMFC, and PIB-Catanduanes in four residences in Barangay Buyo, Virac, Catanduanes for Violation of Presidential Decree 705 or the Revised Forestry Code of the Philippines.

The suspects were arrested by virtue of a search warrant and were identified by Virac police as Santos Panti y Tria, Jose Melgar y Huevia, Ronel Tria y Fernandez, and Christian Abundo y Domingo and Richard Base for illegal possession on chainsaw.

The arresting team served the lawful search at and arrested the suspects 12:30 o’ clock in the afternoon today, [December 11, 2017] in Barangay Buyo, Virac, Catanduanes, a report reaching Camp Simeon A. Ola said.

The suspects were arrested through search warrant No. 2017-56 for Violation of Presidential Decree 705 that resulted to the confiscation of 75 pieces assorted illegally cut red/white Lawaan and narra trees with an estimated total of more than 1,649.98 board feet in one residence only and 3 pieces of a two-man saw.

The arrested persons and confiscated items were brought to Virac Municipal Police Station.
