Legazpi City, [06.07.15] The Philippine Drug Enforcement – 5 has conducted on Friday the destruction of confiscated dangerous drugs, particularly shabu and dried marijuana leaves amounting to PhP19,947.886 million and other regulated drugs, like morphine inside PDEA-5 regional office in Camp General Simeon A. Ola.

The occasion was led by PDEA 5 Regional Director, Director III Bryan B. Babang as part of the 13th year anniversary of the founding of Philippine Drug Enforcement.

According to Director Babang, the destruction of the court evidences are also  being undertaken simultaneously all over the country, by PDEA every month of June of every year.

The destruction of prohibited drugs including regulated drugs was part of the agency’s thrust to achieve their vision of a drug-free Bicol region and was authorized by the court to destroy the seized drugs through thermal destruction, Ronald  V. Bobis, PDEA Chemist explained .

The burning was attended aid local media representatives, Department of Justice personnel, Masbate RTC Judge Maximino Ables, Public Attorney’s Office, Jaycees International, Legazpi City Vice Mayor Vitorio C. Roces and case witnesses.

The list of dangerous drugs  particularly methamphetamine hydrochloride and dried marijuana leaves was authorized by courts. These are the following;

Case Number – 5348  People of the Philippines versus Rolly Bonavente y Arana

Case Number – 11969 People of the Philippines versus Woodrow Wilson Hemady

The regulated drugs  Benzodiazepine 142 tablets and Morphine Sulfate 59 tablets was surrendered to PDEA office by local pharmacies in Bicol region.

Dried Marijuana leaves weighed at 0.3 grams and the 3 kilos and 989.577 grams methamphetamine hydrochloride  or locally known as “shabu”  has a street value of PhP19,947.886.

The 3.9 kilos of meth was confiscated by PDEA-5 in Masbate from the convicted pusher, Hope Sasan y Florita et.al in 2010.
