Guinobatan, Albay, [08.01.17] – The Guinobatan Longganisa Festival 2017 has formally kicked off this morning with a traditional mass inside the Our Lady of Assumption Church and was followed by ribbon-cutting ceremony of the Agri-Fair Opening along Mabini Street.
The ceremonial ribbon-cutting ceremony was attended by Mayor Ann Yap Ongjoco, Albay Department of Trade and Industry Provincial Director Rodrigo Aguilar and Municipal Councilor Wilfredo O. Arevalo, Chair, Committee on Agriculture and local agri-entrepreneur exhibitors.
Mayor Ann Ongjoco has expressed her profound thanks to the exhibitors for their continued support of the promotion of local products, especially agricultural products.
The Agri-Fair is an entrepreneurial activities showcasing the local products of Guinobatan under the concept of product and goods promotion, via “One Town, One Product” a program under the Department of Trade and Industry.
An Igorot exhibitor who came from Legazpi City joined the Agri Fair 2017 told the Philippine Examiner that he was glad of the assistance given to him by DTI – Albay in product packaging techniques including promotion as he is now a consistent exhibitors in every festivals around the province.
According to him, with a small capitalization of PhP3,000.00 he can sell his handicrafts and joins trade fairs.
In the same vein Mrs. Nebungco a gardener from Barangay Travesia and is a consistent exhibitor opens again her organic herbs this morning.
The Guinobatan Longganisa Festival is celebrated from August 1 up to 15 every month of August of every year.
It is an annual celebration of merry making promoting the iconic traditional longganisa.
