Castilla, Sorsogon, [05.09.17] – Police masculinity of two members of Castilla Municipal Police Station has prevailed on Sunday evening in Sitio Hipanao, Barangay Sogoy, Castilla, Sorsogon over bolo-weilding wanted person who resisted arrest for Violation of Republic Act 9262 also known as “Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children Act of 2004.”

In a news release issued by Police Superintendent Nonito F. Marquez, Police Community Relation-Public Information Officer of Sorsogon Police Provincial Office identified the accused, as Charlie M. Marcaida.

The Public Information Officer of Sorsogon Police Provincial Office has quoted the report by Police Senior Inspector Jorden V. Gutay, Chief of Police of Castilla Municipal Police Station, Marcaida was shot on his legs by PO1 Harold Alcantara for self-defense.

According to the report, at about 10:00 o’ clock in the evening of May 7, 2017, PO3 Sherwin B. Aliven, Sub/Warrant PNCO together with PO1 Harold Alcantara proceeded at Sitio Hipanao, Barangay Sogoy,Castilla, Sorsogon to serve the warrant of arrest against Marcaida Violation of Republic Act 9262.

The warrant servers introduced themselves as police officers to the subject of warrant of arrest, but the accused resisted violently and subsequently  assaulted PO3 Aliven. The arresting officer was hit by a punch on his left face causing the policeman to fall on the ground.

PO1 Harold Alcantara helped PO3 Aliven but Marcaida vented his ire to PO1 Alcantara. The suspect attacked and kicked the police officer in the stomach and tried to hack him with a bolo – sensing danger in their lives, PO3 Aliven drew his service firearm and shoot the suspect hitting his legs.

The commotion ensued in the area that caused the armed relatives of the suspect to intervene and attempted to rescue Marcaida from possible arrest.

The throng were armed with bladed weapons and were ready to attack the two policemen that prompted them to secure safer ground and asked police assistance.

A responding team led by SPO4 Crispulo Jintalan arrived from the scene,  however, more or less ten (10) relatives armed with bladed weapon threatened again the responding officers.

SPO4 Jintalan together with the arresting officers decided to leave the place for their safety and security.

Marcaida who is listed as 10th Municipal Wanted Person in Castilla was arrested the following morning in a hot-pursuit operation conducted by Castilla Municipal Police Station at the Bicol Regional Training and Taching Hospital in Legazpi City while he is being treated for his wound. report ended.
