Legazpi City, [05.08.17] – [Updated] A buy-bust has ended into bloody police operation when a suspected drug pusher was subsequently killed in Purok 4, Binatagan, Ligao City after allegedly trying to fight it out with the arresting officers, a report reaching Camp Simeon A. Ola today.
The victim was identified as Relan Sigfred Suruiz y Hugo, male, legal age a resident of Paulog, Ligao City. The buy-bust operation was conducted at 10:20 o’ clock in the morning today [May 8, 2017], Albay Police Provincial Office, Public Information Officer, Police Chief Inspector Arthur R. Gomez said.
According to PCI Gomez the joint elements of Ligao City Police Station, Regional Investigation Division, Police Intelligence Bureau, 5th Regional Public Safety Battalion, Albay Provincial Public Safety Company conducted buy bust operation at Purok 4, Binatagan, Ligao City against Relan Sigfred Suruiz y Hugo.
Upon consummation of the buy-bust the sale designated poseur buyer gave the arranged signal to effect the arrest on the suspect, however, the suspect allegedly drew his firearm prompting operatives to shoot the suspect that causes his death.
Police recovered one calibre .38, six live ammunition of calibre .38, two plastic sachets containing white crystalline substance suspected to be methampethamine hydrochloride, one piece glass toother rolled aluminum foils, buy-bust money and other non-drug paraphernauia.
Suruiz is the second person killed by police operatives in the conduct of buy-bust operation in the province of Albay, since Oplan Double Barrel Reloaded was re-implemented last March 2017.
The first casualty of Double-Barrel Reloaded in Albay was recorded in Barangay Lamba, Legazpi City when a watchlisted pusher and surenderer in Oplan Double Barrel-Alpha was killed by a joint operatives from Legazpi City Police Station and Albay Police Provincial Office Police Intelligence Branch [APPO-PIB] in the evening of April 12, 2017.
The victim was identified as James Baraquiel, a resident of Barangay Rizal, Legazpi City.
One caliber .38, three spent shells, one big plastic sachet believed to be shabu was found inside the left secret pocket, three small plastic sachet was also found inside the right pocket and one fake PNP identification card bearing the name of PO3 James Baraquiel.
From July 1 last year to January 30 this year, the PNP reported a total of 2,551 drug offenders killed nationwide while trying to fight it out with lawmen and 2,928 others killed by suspected vigilante groups.
The PNP classified their deaths as “under investigation.”
