Guinobatan, Albay, [04.19.17] – Upset and turned mindless, due to the devastating break-up, a 24 years old bachelor has decided frantically by making a final option to escape the cruel world – he pulled the trigger of his gun in downtown Guinobatan, Albay.
In an incident report forwarded by Guinobatan Municipal Police Station to Albay Police Provincial Office, a suicide incident report was confirmed by Police Senior Inspector Arthur R. Gomez.
According to PSI Gomez, the Public Information of Albay Police Provincial Office, the incident transpired this morning along Zamora Street.
A love quarrel has triggered the tragic death of Dexter Moratalla y Nidea, 24 years old, single resident of Barangay Libod, Camalig, Albay.
Moratalla and Maryjune Binaraba y Mirabueno, 27 years old, single of Purok 5, Barangay Mauraro, Guinobatan, Albay had a quarrel regarding their breakup.
Maryjune Binaraba asked police assistance of SPO1 Lingcaso due Moratalla’s unruly jealous actuations. The police officer approached and tried to pacify the troubled Moratalla – but the guy just stepped backward ignoring the responding plice officer and subsequently pulled out a 9mm STI Spartan pistol and shot himself.
Responding police brought the wounded jealous guy to Josefina Belmonte Duran Memorial District Hospital [JBDMDH] in Ligao City, but was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician.
Crime scene investigators recovered the following items; one 9mm pistol, a black wallet with a cash amounting to PhP7,600, one cellphone with trade mark OPPO and a Yamaha tricycle.
The personal belongings of the victim was claimed by his brother Helter Moratalla, while the 9mm pistol was submitted to Regional Crime Laboratory Office in Camp Simeon A. Ola for ballistic examination.
On Easter Sunday, in Purok-2 Barangay Alimsog, Sto. Domingo, Albay, a 74 years old widower of Barangay Lidong, Sto. Domingo, Albay was discovered dead by his daughter.
The victim, Arturo Balantinsayo y Balean was seen lifeless at 5:00 o’ clock in the morning of April 16, 2017.
On Good Friday, [April 14, 2017] another suicide incident in Barangay Nailban, Mandaon, Masbate was also reported to Mandaon Municipal Police Station.
Ana Mae Dequina Manlapaz, 15 years old, single, with live-in partner was seen by a nine year old lad hanging at 8:30 o’ clock in the morning hanging inside their Nipa Hut with a rolled blanket tied around her neck, she died also in the hospital.
In 2016, Suicide Statistic in Albay showed 24 recorded cases. It reveals that majority who committed suicide last year, were males with a record of 21 cases with only three  cases committed by female. Also there were 18 cases of suicides were committed by singles, two  by married and four  suicide incidents were committed by widows.
The established reasons of suicides were commonly attributed to .- mental disorder with four cases , two  on health illnesses, 8 emotional problems, two  family problems and eight  other underlying reasons, PSI Gomez said.
