Legazpi City, [04.08.17] – A reported renewed fighting between the government troops and the communist rebels in a remote village of Aroroy, Masbate has led to the recovery of at least three firearms after the enemies retreated to safer ground, a sketchy report reaching Camp Simeon A. Ola said.

An incident report received by Police Senior Inspector Maria Luisa C. Calubaquib, Spokesperson of PR0-5 Regional Public Information Office the encounter occurred at 6:30 o’ clock in the morning today in Sitio Bantolinao, Barangay Amutag, Aroroy, Masbate.

A  joint elements composed of one Squad, Scout Platoon, 2nd Infantry Battallion, Philippine Army led by Staff Sergeant  Genetia and 96th Military Intelligence Company [MICO] led by Captain Bonilla engaged in a five minutes encounter with estimated five communist rebels.

The government troops were conducting combat operation in Sitio Bantolinao when they encountered the rebels. Firefight lasted about five minutes and  forced the enemies to withdrew towards the east direction of Bantolinao.

No reported casualty on government side but an alleged casualty was inflicted on the rebel’s side, the report said.

Government troops recovered one shotgun, one KG9 submachinegun pistol, one  calibre .45 pistol, and two backpacks with documents from the encounter site.
