Legazpi City, [02.24.17] – An 18 years old female cadre together with four other members of the local communist guerilla front in Milagros, Masbate has voluntarily surrendered on Thursday to the government troops to pursue normal lives, Captain Joash Pramis, 9th Division Public Affairs Office said.

In a news release obtained by The Philippine Examiner the rebels has willingly turned themselves to the fold of the law together with their 18 years old ‘amasona’ at the headquarters of the 2nd Infantry Battallion in Barangay Bacolod, Milagros, Masbate.

The 18 years old ‘amasona’ together with her four comrades went emotional while narrating their ordeals in front of Army Major General Manolito Orense  Commander of the  9th  Infantry Division, Philippine Army, the news release said.

According to Ka Gina, she was lured by a guerilla political officer to bear arm and joined the revolutionary front when she was 16 years old. Their group has decided to lay down their arms to put an end their guerilla lives as they can no longer accept the practice of imposing evolutionary taxation that is being imposed by their guerilla front upon the local businessmen and marginal farmers and fisherfolks.

Although this is against the party discipline of the Communist Party of the Philippines and its armed group, the New People’s Army to break-away from the group, but we want a peaceful life together with their families, the group unabashedly told Major General Manolito Orense.

The officials of 2nd Infantry Battallion has identified the surrenderees through their real names and their nom de guirre or alyases as: Arman Bangalisan y Asuque, a.k.a. “Aris”, 33 years old, Vice Squad Leader; Virgilio Lontabo y Salvador, a.k.a. “Bunso”, 29 years old, Vice Squad Leader; Cris Aque y Cortes, a.k.a. “Gina”, 18 years old, all residents of Barangay Canumay, Claveria, Masbate; Erwin Briones y Leyco, a.k.a. “Jason”,35 years old,Member, a resident of Barangay Togoron, Monreal, Masbate; and Junjun Mingoy y Capinig Jr., a.k.a. “Pogs”, 30 years old, Member), a resident of Barangay Cabas-an, Aroroy, Masbate.

They are all members of Larangan 1, Komiteng Propaganda 4 of the Bicol Regional Party Committee.

They surrendered one M14 rifle, one M16 rifle, one  M1 Carbine rifle, one  calibre .45 and one calibre 38 revolver.

Major General Manolito Orense has assured them the government program is available under the Comprehensive Local Integration Program that will provide cash assistance and livelihood program.
