Legazpi City, [01.30.17] – The suspect in the alleged kidnapping incident was arrested today at 8:30 o’ clock in the morning by the elements of Malinao Municipal Police Station in Barangay Sugcad, Malinao, Albay, a report reaching Camp Simeon A. Ola said.
According to Police Chief Inspector Arthur Ramirez Gomez, spokesperson of Albay Police Provincial Office told The Philippine Examiner that Malinao Municipal Police arrested Jonathan Bringino y Agripa on Alleged Kidnapping in relation to Republic Act 7610.
The team composed by Police Chief Inspector Vergel Bibat, Officer-in-Charge of Malinao Municipal Police Station, PO3 Sherell Kallos-Womens and Children Protection Desk PNCO, Wilhelmina Reyes-Municipal Social Welfare and Development Officer, Barangay Kagawad Dean Camasis together with Mr.Reynaldo Gabriel, father of the victim arrested the 40 years old suspect.
The incident happend last December 5, 2016 around 2:00 o’ clock in the morning in Batasan Hills, Quezon City and the suspect brought the minor at Barangay Sugcad.
Respondent and the minor victim underwent medical examination at Rural Health Unit and are now under the custody of Malinao Municipal Police Station.
Violation of Republic Act No. 7610 or the Special Protection of Children against Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act is a criminal offense.
Under Section 3 of this act, child abuse is defined as follows:
“(b) “Child abuse” refers to the maltreatment, whether habitual or not, of the child which includes any of the following:
(1) Psychological and physical abuse, neglect, cruelty, sexual abuse and emotional maltreatment;
Any person who shall be found guilty of the above law shall suffer the penalty of prision mayor in its minimum period or imprisonment ranging from six (6) years and one day to twelve (12) years (Section 10 (a), Republic Act No. 7610).
