Sorsogon City, [01.29.17] – The Sorsogon Police Provincial Office [SORPPO] has achieved its bragging rights by outdoing the five police provincial offices in Bicol region in the implementation of the anti-illegal drugs campaign.

In a press briefing on Friday afternoon inside Camp Salvador C. Escudero, Sr, Police Senior Superintendent Ronaldo R. Cabral presented their scorecards and best practices on the implementation of their anti-illegal drugs campaigns.

According to Police Senior Superintendent Cabral, they were able to achieve their target in declaring the 13 municipalities, as drug cleared.

Out of 541 barangays in Sorsogon, there are 325 drug affected barangays and 241 cleared barangays, as per Dangerous Drugs Boards parameters.

These were implemented in the municipalities of Barcelona, Bulusan, Casiguran, Castilla,Donsol,Gubat,Irosin, Juban,Magallanes, Matnog, Pilar, Prieto-Diaz and Santa Magdalena.

Sorsogon City with 53 drug affected barangays and the municipality of Bulan with 32 drug affected barangays are still to submit their reports on their respective drug clearing operations.

From July 1, 2016 until October 25, 2016, the Sorsogon Police Provincial Office has conducted;

157, 689 TOKHANG operations,

  62 arrests, Five [5] drug personalities were killed

Confiscation of 83. 56539 grams and 11 HSTPS of methampethamine hydrochloride or shabu and 0.4996 grams of marijuana and seven fully grown marijuana

463 drug watch listed drug personalities as of June 2016

2,696 had surrendered; 391 watch listed;

2, 305 newly identified; 2367 users and 329 pushers

Out of 541 barangays 325 or 60.1% are affected,

317 or 97.5% drug cleared as per Dangerous Drugs Board parameters.

Cabral explained before the local press that a framework is already incorporated so that the program will fit to meet more challenges in the future – they key to its sustainability are already spelled-out.

A matrix was presented in a forward-looking Pulis Kasanggayahan way to sustain a drug-free province with the active support of the local government units, anti-drug abuse councils, government agencies and the community.

A continuing training programs to develop the Pulis Kasanggayahan into more effective, capable and credible police officers.

Capability enhancement  program to carry-out sensitive and complex tasks.

Shaping more the moral foundation of personnel through character and moral development engagements to improve both their career and personal and launching the One Sorsogon Project.
