Legazpi City, [11.27.16] – A caretaker of the suspected clandestine shabu laboratory is now under police custody after police raided the warehouse in Barangay Palta Small, Virac, Catanduanes on Saturday.
Police has identified the caretaker of the property as a certain Laurence Perenia,
Police Chief Superintendent Melvin Ramon G. Buenafe, Regional Director of Police Regional Office – 5 who personally went to Virac to witness the search inside the property, together with local media, the filing of case against the suspect is now underway.
The PNP Regional Director has confirmed in a statement that a suspected getaway vehicle of the laboratory operator was found in San Andres, Catanduanes.
According to his statement, the vehicle is owned by Jayson Uy. Uy was not around when the search was conducted.
Initial findings has revealed the presence of voluminous chemical precursors and numerous equipments, such as; hydro-generator, weighing scale, various glasswares, motorized mixing apparatus and chemicals – a typical laboratory equipments used in the manufacture of illegal drugs, like methamphetamine hydrochloride or commonly known as “shabu”.
The suspected warehouse was detected by the authorities on Saturday by the joint elements of Regional Intelligence Division, Regional Anti-Illegal Drug Special Operations Group, PDEA -5, TL-Albay and Catanduanes, Provincial Public Safety Company – Catanduanes, Catanduanes Provincial Intelligence Branch, and Virac Municipal Police Station.
A Search Warrant No. 2016-55 issued by Honorable Judge Lelu P. Contreras of Regional Trial Court Branch 43, Virac, Catanduanes to conduct a legal search.
The alleged clandestine laboratory at Barangay Palta, Virac, Catanuanes was leased to certain Jason Gonzales Uy.
The property is owned by a certain Angelica Balmadrid, a common law-wife of Atty. Erick Isidoro of National Bureau of Investigation, and being leased to a certain Jayson Uy, the report said.
