Jolo, Sulu [08.27.16] –They are still looking forward that ramsom money will be delivered in time, despite of the Philippine government’s “no ransom policy.”
The captors of Norwegian resort manager Kjartan Sekkingstad are said to be on mobile in the areas of Talipao and Patikul towns and are allegedly anticipating the negotiator to deliver the ransom money in exchange of the Norwegian’s liberty, a highly placed source said.
Sekkingstad who is being held by the group of Muamar Askali alyas Abu Rami are on the run, to elude the government offensive in the area of Talipao and Patikul following the Friday clash in Sitio Latih, Danag, Patikul, Sulu that killed eleven lawless bandits.
According to the source, an unknown negotiator is finding hard to position theselves and delivery the ransom money, due to the heavy presence of government troops on the ground.
Earlier, Abu Rami has demanded the PhP70 million ransom money in exchange of Sekkingstad’s liberty.
Kidnapped victim John Ridsdel, 68, and Robert Hall, 50, were executed by Abu Sayyaf because of the ransom money did not materialized, another source said.
The Norwegian national is the last remaining foreign captive of the original “Samal Four,” had already repeatedly appealed for the Philippine and Norwegian government for their safe release after Filipina national, Maritess Flor was freed on June 24,m 2016.
The “Samal Four” were forcibly taken at gun point last September 22 by 11 armed men who stormed the Holiday Oceanview Resort.
