Jolo, Sulu [08.27.16] –The government’s campaign against the lawless bandit goup, Abu Sayyaf in southern Philippines has scored a resounding victory after eleven members of Abu Sayyaf were killed, while seventeen Army Scout Rangers were also wounded in a fifteen minutes encounter on Friday.

The troops of 13th Scout Ranger Company under Captain Marco and 15th Scout Ranger Company under Lieutenant Jay L. Maravilla, has encountered more or less 100 bandits under Idang Susukan in Sitio Latih, Barangay Danag, Patikul, Sulu.

Recovered six dead bodies were brought to Sulu Police Provincial Office in downtown Jolo and were identified by the authorities as – Mohammad Said, alyas Amah Maas, Omar Salih, son of Mohammad Said, Harun Salih, son of Mohammad Said, Latip Sapie and Aswad alyas Amaun.

While five other casualties were recovered by their group prior the army soldiers managed to launch clearing operation, the report said.

They were identified as the following; Adot LNU, Jahidin Alih, Kampoh LNU, Saldi LNU and  Adzmir LNU.

The bandits who are responsible in kidnap-for-ransom activities  are believed to be actively operating in Danag area under the command of Idang Susukan, a ranking military officer said.

Idang Susukan is believed to be the captor of former Italian missionary Rolando Del Torchio who was held in Sulu for six months on Jolo by the Abu Sayyaf.

The wounded were identified as the following Corporal Ruben Lapides, Private First Class Antonio Agliam, Private First Class Alvin A. Nicolas, Private First Class Adam T. Pesebre, Private First Class Jojo P. Cadiz, Private First Class Joel Taray, Private First Class Wilson Sakib, Corporal Reymor C. Bagalay, Private First Class Florante Bagasin, Private First Class Allan D. Benbinuto, Corporal Roel G. Javilunar, Private First Class Nel Bongao, 1st Lieutenant Jay L. Maravilla, Corporal Michael B. Arquero, Private First Class Rey A. Manlayas, Corporal Emil P. Lintao Private First Class Danilo D. Cabag

They were brought to Kuta Heneral Teodulfo Bautista in Busbus, Jolo, Sulu for medical treatment.
