Jolo, Sulu [08.17.16] – One of the Indonesian kidnap victim was able to sprint to his freedom and escaped from his captors was safely rescued this morning by the local police in the vicinity of Barangays Bual and Batoh Itum, Luuk, Sulu, police report said.
According to the report, Mohammad Safyan, 28 years old was discovered floating in the mangrove areas of Barangays Bual and Batoh Itum at 8:30 this morning.
Safyan told The Philippine Examiner in an interview inside the Sulu Police Provincial Office that he managed to escape from his captors last Tuesday, by running after the bandits failed to hit shoot him.
“We were informed by our captors on Tuesday on their execution, we were asked to choose the manner of execution, we decided to be executed by firing squad, when our captors ordered us to run, I was able to escape before their bullets hit me, until I managed to reach a shoreline”, the 28 years old Indonesian narrated.
The rescue operation was directly supervised by Police Senior Inspector Al-Radzmer A. Hadjail, Officer-in-Charge of Luuk Municipal Police Station with the help from the local residents.
Safyan is now under the custody of Sulu Police Provincial Office after he was brought to a hospital in Jolo. Authorities is processing for his immediate turn-over to the Indonesian authorities.
The four Indonesian captives who were kidnapped on June 23, 2016 was being held by the wife of late Jinnul Lahab, alyas Jim Dragon after Lahab was killed together with his son in an encounter against the troops of Ali Fikri, a member of Moro National Liberation Front in Kalingalang Caluang, Sulu on August 9, 2016.
