Legazpi City [06.27.16] – The tide of anti-American imperialism has stirred once again the sentiments of leftists in Bicol region this afternoon, along the streets of Legazpi City, as the formal opening of the “Pacific Partnership 2016” is being held inside the Albay Astrodome.
The Bagong Alyansang Makabayan has staged a protest march condemning the “Pacific Partnership 2016” as a deceptive military intervention in the Philippines by the United States of America.
In an issued press statement made by the Bagong Alyansang Makabayan, it lambasted the political sin committed by Philippine government for the “sweet surrender” of the country’s sovereignty to the American intervention in ratifying the Visiting Forces Agreement [VFA] and the Enhanced Defense Cooperation, also known as EDCA.
The VFA is permitting the resurgence of U.S military presence in the country, while the EDCA is allowing surservientlly to the revival of the U.S bases on agreed location in the country, the statement said.
They also lambasted the the engineering civic action projects and the medical civic action projects as disguise or a soft approach of American Imperialism under the umbrella of military intervention and aggression in the country, the statement ended.
The twelve days humanitarian mission will last until July 9, will focus primarily on Humanitarian Assistance Disaster Relief [HADR] to enhance response capabilities on natural disasters and other crises that will endanger public health and safety.
The Pacific Partnership will benefit as much as 3,000 indigent Albayano patients will be treated aboard the USS Mercy, who is currently docked at the Albay Gulf.
Aside from the highlights activities such as the medical mission, other civic action activities are to be extended to the Albayanos by the visiting troops will also deal with cooperative, veterinarian, women, peace and security through seminars and workshops.
