Intramuros, Manila, [10.14.15] The daughter of the late strongman Ferdinand Emmanuel Edralin Marcos, Sr files today her certificate of candidacy as an independent presidential aspirant in the forthcoming May 9, 2016 national election.

In a message sent by the campaign spokesperson to The Philippine Examiner, Maria Aurora Busoy Marcos officially filed her candidacy at 3:35 this afternoon at the office of the Commission on Election in Palacio del Gobernador corner of General Luna St. and Andres Soriano Jr. Avenue in Intramuros, Manila.

Marcos was accompanied by her supporters during the filing of her candidacy to the great surprise of the Comelec employees and the media as well, the spokesperson said.

During the filing of her certificate of candidacy, vice presidential aspirant Gregorio B. Honasan II and two other senatorial candidates were also inside the Comelec office to file their individual certificate of candidacy under their own political parties.

Maria Aurora Busoy Marcos, 61 years old is the daughter of the late president Ferdinand Emmanuel E. Marcos, Sr. to Elizabeth Busoy Del Rosario of Benguet province.

As an independent presidential candidate, her platform will focus on economic reforms, agriculture under her poverty alleviation program.

Her vision on industrialization will concentrate in the modernization of the agriculture sector in the countryside under the mantra of food security.

Prior entering politics, Maria Aurora Marcos led an ordinary lifestyle sans limelight and fame, but instead she pursued her studies and worked with Arab oil magnates as consultant.
