A CIDG-Albay led operation caused the death of a suspected gun runner.

Ligao City, [11.27.18] – A police operation on Monday afternoon against a suspected violator of Republic Act 9516 or illegal possession or dealing of firearms and explosives in Ligao City has led into an armed confrontation that led to the death of a male suspect, a police report said.
According to Police Senior Inspector Mayvell Barcia Gonzales, Albay Police Provincial Office Public Information Officer, an Oplan Paglalansag Omega/Salikop buy-bust operation was conducted at 3:30 o’ clock in the afternoon of November 26, 2018, at Barangay Bonga, Ligao City against Ronel Bueno.
The joint elements of Criminal Investigation and Detection Group [CIDG-Albay], lead unit, Regional Intelligence Division – 5 [RID-5], 1st Police Mobile Force Company [1st PMFC], Police Intelligence Branch [PIB] and Ligao City Police Station conducted the anti-illegal drugs operation.
A magnum caliber .22 revolver with live ammunition, one hand grenade, cell phone, and bust money were confiscated from the suspect.
The suspect Bueno of Barangay Oma-Oma, Ligao City was wounded during the operations when he tried to shoot the poseur-buyer, the report said.
He was rushed to the Josefina Belmonte Duran Memorial Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival by the attending physicians.
This is the latest implementation of a buy-bust operation in Ligao City this year that led to an armed confrontation resulting in the death of a suspect.
