A Mandaon-bound member of a local paramilitary group is killed in an apparent renewed wave of liquidation in Masbate.

Legazpi City, [09.14.18] – Another member of CAFGU was shot and killed while waiting for a ride at noon time today in the vicinity of Purok Acacia, Barangay Malinta, Masbate City, a police report reaching Camp BGeneral Simeon A. Ola said.

According to the report, a shooting incident has transpired at 10:30 o’ clock at noon time today [September 14], involving an active member of CAFGU.
The victim was identified as Joseph Lapida y Roy, 34 years old, single, an active member of CAFGU based at Army Detachment, Barangay Maingaran, Masbate City and is a resident of Barangay Cabitan, Mandaon, Masbate.
The victim was shot by two unidentified suspects armed with a caliber .45 pistol while the victim was waiting for a passenger vehicle going to Mandaon, Masbate, an initial investigation conducted by Masbate City Police Station said.
The victim sustained injuries on his chest and head the severed the victim’s eyes and died instantly on the spot.
Responding authorities have recovered twenty pieces of empty cartridges of caliber .45 pistol from the crime scene.
The suspects fled away toward the direction of Barangay Sinalongan, Masbate City who took their victim’s personal belongings police report ended.
