Legazpi City, [08.03.18] – At least three government troops were reportedly killed in action in an encounter with alleged members of local communist guerrilla this morning in Barangay Mactan, Cawayan, Masbate.
Sketchy report on the encounter incident reaching Camp BGeneral Simeon A. Ola today, the clash transpired at 8:30 o’ clock in the morning between the troops of 2nd Infantry Battalion, Philippine Army and an undetermined number of local communist troops in the vicinity of Barangay Mactan.
Elements of CAFGU Active Auxillary [CAA] Detachment based at Barangay Del Carmen, Uson, Masbate were conducting combat patrol operations encountered the undetermined number of an armed group believed to be members of local communist guerilla front.
Three government troops were reportedly killed in action while inflicting on an undetermined casualty on the enemy side, initial report said.
Names of the casualties are not available yet as of this posting.
All Municipal Police Stations in adjacent municipalities were directed to take all necessary actions like a conduct of checkpoint/chokepoints in all strategic locations in their respective area of responsibility.
Intelligence operative was directed to conduct surveillance and check local hospitals and clinics to verify admitted wounded patients particularly those with gunshot wounds.
