Another statistic is added as the latest casualty of the killer waves was reported in the surfing capital of Sorsogon.

Gubat, Sorsogon, [07.09.18] – The merrymaking of friends in Barangay Ariman in Gubat town has ended in a tragedy on Sunday afternoon when a male excursionist died of drowning after he was swept away huge waves, police report said.
According to Police Chief Inspector Jim V. Jeremias, Chief of Police of Gubat Municipal Police Station the drowning incident was reported to the authorities past noontime by the relative of the victim.
The victim was identified as Darius Rubia Badillos, 47 years old of Mandaon, Masbate.
The group are partying and had a drinking session on a beachfront in Barangay Ariman and ventured into the sea. While swimming, the victim was suddenly swamped by huge waves and he was engulfed towards the deep portion of the sea as he was taken by strong current, police investigation revealed.
Responding rescuers were able to recover the unconscious victim after 20 minutes under water.
He died in Gubat District Hospital shortly after he was rushed by his friends and companions who rescued him.
Badillos is the latest drowning casualty in Gubat this month after a male surfer from Legazpi City was swamped by huge waves last summer this year.
